Shaping Scooter's Success Over the Years
Our Story: Meet the Heart of Scooter's Fish House
As a restaurant owner, I am always on the search for great food at a great price. Scooter's Fish House was on my must visit list. It was on my 12th visit that I knew that this was going to be mine. I sent in an offer, and to my surprise, it was accepted. I have not changed any of their original recipes, I just added a few items.
Scooter's consistency with their product is always going to be their backbone to success.

A Passion for Great Seafood and Community
A Family Tradition Grows Stronger at Scooter’s Fish House
Now, at 25 years old, I’ve put my blood, sweat, and tears into this establishment. Additionally, the same can be said for the team that has helped me run Navarre’s best seafood restaurant. Scooters would not be what it is today without the core group that has been running strong for almost 5 years.
With that being said, the Scooter’s Fish House family is more than happy to announce the addition of its newest Family members: John and Marvin Poates! John acquired Scooters Fish House in November of 2023. He and his father, Marvin Poates, are both longtime fans of Scooters Fish House! Next, after dining at the store a dozen times, experiencing the inviting family atmosphere, and enjoying its excellent seafood, John knew he wanted to be a part of the Scooter’s Fish House family!

Over 50 Years of Restaurant Experience
Scooter’s Fish House Joins JD Restaurant Group – A Legacy of Excellence
Moreover, in early November Scooters Fish House was officially purchased by JD Restaurant Group, LLC. JD stands for “John and Dad”. Both Marvin and John have a very deep, extensive history in the food industry. John has operated and opened 26 restaurants around the world! His father, Marvin, has been operating, and opening stores for the past 50 years!
Our goal? Make Scooters Fish House bigger and better than ever before, while keeping the original Scooter, Stewart, & Sam Taylor recipes the same. There’s a saying “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!”, but it’s also been said that “It might not be broken, but we can damn sure make it better”. That’s the plan, and we will continue to go above and beyond to achieve that.
